Partridge Family Olive Oil
Cool nights and warm days - finally some normal seasonal weather AND finally we are starting to see some color change in the grove! Everything has been a few weeks later than it should which will probably put harvest time into early December for us.Regarding color change. A few years ago we wrote about what causes the olives to turn purple. Changes of color is due to an accumulation of anthocyanin—a naturally occurring pigment. Anthocyanins are produced as a protective cell mechanism against environmental stressors & changes such as temperature variations we’re now having. These components are also powerful flavonoids which are believe to act as antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and disease fighting benefits. Foods that are rich in anthocyanins also include grapes, blueberries, cherries, red cabbage, and tomatoes. It’s even responsible for some of the colors of a beautiful autumn. So there is truth to the old wives tale to eat your colorful fruits and vegetables. Now just make it that much better when adding a dash of Partridge Family EVOO! ... See MoreSee Less
